LOTS of new TV, NUMBERWANG & A Gig
Wow, TV is getting better. It's official - as of just then.

First up is EXTRAS, now in its second season. The first episode, starring ORLANDO BLOOM (who was just dreamy, er, I mean, excellent) and KEITH CHEGWIN (again, an excellent performance - truly cringe-worthy) was fab. Gervais' character, Andy, ends up as pathetic as ever. This continues is the second episode (not as good as the first but more cring-making than anything) which also featured DAVID "Can I Have a Sausage?" BOWIE. Ironically the "Is he havin' a laugh?" non-catchphrase seems to becoming an actual catchphrase. It's post-modernism gone mad. The wig, the glasses, the catchphrases....

Beauty & The Beast, yesterday

Next up, THAT MITCHELL & WEBB LOOK featuring (and written by) the guys from PEEP SHOW. Man, it was good. It's just a sketch show but has some great ideas and, importantly, ace perfomances. One of my favourite sketches was "Numberwang" - a game show based on numbers. Yeah, it doesn't sound funny but, by christ, it is. Although I enjoyed the first episode, the second episode kicked it up a notch and made me snort with laughter. A guy could control biscuits with telekenesis. Again, doesn't sound funny, but by ++INSERT DEITY HERE++ it flippin' was.

"Quick Ginger, we haven't a moment to lose!"

The third season of THE OFFICE started in the US. The first season was ropey, the second was good but this one looks tip top. The first episode made me laugh so much I had to pause it. The show gets better and better and looks like becoming a SEINFELD for the naughties. Also on US TV was the 18th season of THE SIMPSONS. The first two episodes have been OK. To be honest the last few seasons have been mediocre, never bad, just a bit, you know, meh. THE APPRENTICE continues to amuse me greatly which cannot be said, however, for the new show from RUSSELL BRAND. As you know, I am fond of this chap, but his new show RUSSELL BRAND'S GOT ISSUES is not good. In fact the first episode was dire. The second was marginally better and was only redeemed 'cos there was a girl in the audience who used to be a regular on BIG MOUTH. That was the best bit!

The Office, erm, yesterday?

Film-wise, I enjoyed THE SENTINEL and THE QUEEN but did not enjoy RIGHT AT YOUR DOOR (there was meant to be a huge twist. Well. if the twist was meant to make you feel like you had wasted two hours of your life then well-flippin' done) and THE BLACK DAHLIA (looks great, but has poor perfomances and a terrible script). Who-wise, there's new figures out (that's right - Wave 3) as well as a 'bath gift set'. Snigger. I managed to pick up the rare WEREWOLF figure and make a pump-load off of them. Thankfully, the ASDA (other shops are available) along the road has started stocking them. Great times. Also, Sarah Jane is getting her own spin-off show. Click HERE for that story. For those who want the Doctor to visit the universe, rather than being stuck in a council estate in London, then there's bad news - go HERE to find out the reason why he don't go nowhere.

They both have dogs.

Life-wise, did a gig with THE PORRIDGY at the Union. It was ok, pretty quiet. The quiz started up again on Tuesday. It was way too busy to enjoy, over 40 teams to start with. Still, pays the bills.

Why don't elephants go skinny dipping?
They can't get their trunks off.
