Halloween; Essays; Mark Gatiss & 2 Gig Sunday
Nothing new really on TV.

Just the 'usual' of THE CATHERINE TATE SHOW, HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU, FRIDAY NIGHT WITH JONATHON ROSS (JOHN BARROWMAN was on it the other night and was very good), QI and, of course, TORCHWOOD. The rest have fallen by the wayside, as they say. As for the latter, it continues to be so-so, there was an episode with a CYBERWOMAN (rather unsurprisingly called 'Cyberwoman') which featured a fight between it/her and a pterodactyl which was pretty good. Still the Xmas special of WHO ain't far away. Speaking of that, it's CHILDREN IN NEED time and they put some stuff on eBay which I bid on. You gotta laugh when you see where I figure in the auction. It's till got a few days to run yet. Click HERE for the auctions. In more 'exciting' WHO-related news, the soundtrack to the last two seasons is being released next month which I am pretty excited about. NEIL HANNON from THE DIVINE COMEDY lends his vocals to a couple of songs (one of them was in the last xmas special). Click HERE for that story. The show also picked up a hatrick of gongs at the NATIONAL TV AWARDS, click HERE for that story. Also, on DVD, I got THE SONTARAN EXPERIMENT(great commentary from LIS SLADEN & PHILLIP HINCHCLIFFE but does suffer from a stupendously awful robot) and THE INVASION. The latter has two missing episodes animated (but still with the original soundtrack) by COSGROVE HALL. Pretty bloody good stuff.

It's a Cyberwoman, yesterday.

Internet-wise, THE OFFICE continues to be so bloody good. Many twists and turns but, basically, hilarious. LOST also continues to be very, very good. The last one, which I won't spoil for my good chum Dr Smith, made me gasp. It featured the vastly underused NATHAN FILLION (though to be honest, he's pretty much the same character all the time). CHANNEL 4 lost out to the new season to SKY who paid £40 million for two seasons! The former has kept DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES also at that price. Crazy, crazy stuff. Radio-wise, RUSSELL BRAND has moved from 6MUSIC to RADIO 2. His new show starts this Saturday which I ain't too happy about. Before he was doing 3 hours on a Sunday morning, now it's only 2 hours on a Saturday night, 9-11pm! Who's gonna be in to hear that? Interestingly, his new C4 show will be up against JONATHON ROSS, click HERE for that story.

He's back! (Well, not really).

Film-wise, I saw BORAT (which is causing headlines all over the world, click HERE), which was very good if shocking, and STARTER FOR TEN which was also good and also shocking due to the fact that microphones can be seen constantly throughout the flippin' film. Also there were too many songs by THE CURE in it. I mean I like them but for flip's sake! ANNNNDDD, to be a geek here, they used songs anachronistically. The film was set in 85/86 yet they used songs from 89. Sack that chap. Or chappette.

Best line? "He's the town rapist. Naughty, naughty!"

Life-wise, I got my first essay marks back for second year, a 15 for English and a 18 for Film Studies. Not bad for stuff I basically jerked off on the day. Just handed in another for Film Studies and in the process of doing another English one. Although I do appear to be doing this instead. The quiz fell on Halloween this year which was fun. A lot of cleavage on show (not by me) which is always nice and some guy came dressed as OPTIMUS PRIME which made the while place quiver with envy. I dressed as DOUGAL from FATHER TED. As part of the WORD festival, I went to see MARK GATISS who was most amusing and spoke a lot about DR WHO which was nice. Been hosting BEER OR NO BEER at The Union as well as the OPEN MIC nights with Richard Miller . Last Sunday I did two gigs! One, with THE PORRIDGY, at REVOLUTION and the other, with the aforementioned Mr Miller, at LIQUID NIGHTCLUB. A fun night. The last time I did two gigs in one night was way back in 1993 when I was with THE GIRLFRIENDS. We did a gig at NICE 'N' SLEAZY (with a band who we regularly 'gigged' with called THE BLISTERS who's singer was a certain ALEX HUNTLEY who then changed his surname to KAPRANOS and waited another ten years before becoming famous in another band) and then THE 13th NOTE with a band called THE SUPERNATURALS who also went on to some fame. They were chums too as we played a lot with them also. There was a bit of a weird sky thing going on the other week so I took a photo, here it is:

The sky, a while ago. Not yesterday.

And, as it's November, I have started using the fire again, here's a pic of that:

My fire, yesterday.
