BATMAN & ROBBIE: R.I.P. [2000-2006]
As you can see from the title, the quiz is now over - the last one was last Tuesday.

It started in a more innocent time. Originally I wanted to call it "Hit Me Jedi One More Time" but it was poo-poo'd in favour of my other idea,"Batman & Robbie". Of course, I did not want to do it in the beginning. It started at the old Union on the Gallowgate and there was already a quiz night on a Monday, so I didn't really seee the point of doing another one, especially on the following evening in the same venue (The Dungeon). It was sheer laziness on the part of everyone involved, I wanted to do an open mic style talent night. So we did it anyways. It lasted in the aforementioned Union until it closed back in 2003 and then swiftly moved to BAR PIVO which was just a minute walk from the Union so that was handy. By then, Craig was doing it with me and we had a right laugh. I can remember various times we would both be in tears (at our jokes & stupidity, I hasten to add) unable to ask questions, which is a big part of any quiz. Then that bar closed down in early 2005. Strangely, the University accquired the venue formerly known as BAR PIVO and then turned into the new Union. They asked me to resusitate the quiz and I did so alone. not nearly as much fun on my own and some nights were particularly long. It got very popular with more teams than ever during the past year and so it was good to go out on a 'high'. On a personal note, both the Student's Association and the management at The Union were not very helpful with the quiz so it was an easy option to stop doing it. To see the website go HERE.

Hot & Hotter, yesterday.

The finale of BODIES was shown on BBC3 and it didn't disappoint. Typically brutal and superbly performed but slightly Disney ending in regard to a couple of the characters. Nevertheless it highlighted the grey area between good and bad with some applomb. To make up for the poor episode of last week's TORCHWOOD, they gave us a good one involving time travel. People from the fifties appeared with no way to get back. Pretty sad as the three of them tried to aclimatise. Good performances - there was a bird from SUGAR RUSH and one from NO ANGELS . Nice! Who-wise, the advent calendar online gave us a fab game, based on BEJEWELLED - it's got monsters, not jewels. Go HERE to play. In DEAL OR NO DEAL yesterday a woman won over £100,000! If she had gone on she could have got the £250,000 but she seemed pretty happy, as anyone would. Film-wise, I went to see PAN'S LABYRINTH and boy was it goooood. How come UK filmmakers cannot make films like the Spanish? This year there was also the excellent VOLVER and the amazing CHILDREN OF MEN (I know Alfonso Cuarón is not Spanish but he is a Spanish-speaking Mexican) - what did we give the world? Exactly. If you get a chance, go see.

Erm, that guy, yesterday.
