LIVE EARTH? More like PISH EARTH!
First up, some DOCTOR WHO related news.
Granted not as exciting or jaw-dropping as last week's Minogue/Tate double-header but still noteworthy - the cast of the Christmas special has been joined by two 'Classic Series' (remember, classic just means old, not better) actors GEOFFREY "REGGIE PERRIN; BUTTERFLIES; AS TIME GOES BY" PALMER and CLIVE "Just 'KEEPING UP APPEARANCES' I'm afraid" SWIFT . The former, as I'm sure you will remember, appeared in two PERTWEE-era stories and the later appeared in a COLIN "That's right 'Colin', not 'Tom'" BAKER 'classic'. Remember, 'classic' here means 'pish'. And joining them, if the current scuttlebutt is to be believed, is none other than DENNIS "I did 'SPEED' for cash" HOPPER!

"Bit of a cock-up on the catering front"

Elsewhere on TV, there's nothing. Still. Well, not quite. WIMBLEDON trumbled on and I was glad to catch a couple of matches featuring JAMIE "I'm older than Andy, you know" MURRAY in the mixed doubles with JELENA JANKOVIC. They ended up winning the flippin' thing which was a great moment. Well done, stout work. The same, however, cannot be said for LIVE EARTH. I know what the point was but really, what was the point? GENESIS kicked off the day (should have said it all really) with, wait for it, an instrumental! Wow! The world has changed. PHIL "How come people prefer Peter Gabriel?" COLLINS managed to drop the F-bomb in the most innocuous of songs - "Invisible Touch" and that was just after lunchtime! Bad boy. More 'language' came in the form of CHRIS "Don't call me Tucker" ROCK who used "motherf**ker" like he was breathing. Needless to say the BEEB cut away from him pretty quickly but that didn't stop him saying "n**ger" during an interview with JONATHON ROSS. RICKY "I love Elton John" GERVAIS did get him to say "Get Charley out" which was funny even though I ain't even watching BIG BROTHER.

Annoyingly the BEEB cut away from bands playing to show highlights from around the world (rather than doing it between bands, which is what any normal bloody station would have done - arseholes!) and this got more complaints than the language by all accounts. They declined to show SPINAL TAP's finale of "Big Bottom" featuring 17 bass players from the bands that "didn't go up to T IN THE PARK". Arg! Odd moment of the gig? Definitely the PUSSYCAT DOLLS. And who introduced this week's CUM DRENCHED WHORES OF THE WEEK? Little DAVEY T, you can see it below seeing as how the BEEB managed to miss that as well, arseholes!

Film-wise, the summer of sequels continues with SHREK THE THIRD and DIE HARD 4.0. The former was lamentable and the latter was pretty enjoyable, but not as good as WITH A VENGEANCE. WILLIS was on top form and there were some nice set pieces featuring helicopters and planes. Still, there's a lot more sequels to come. Boo! Music-wise, I 'got' (hem, hem): "The Reminder" by FEIST which is real good and very interesting; "Time On Earth" by CROWDED HOUSE which had its moments, I like the single; and by "Thirst For Romance" by CHERRY GHOST which I've only listened to once but doesn't really do it for me - a bit dull although there 2 or 3 good tunes. Really digging the new one from THE BEES, "Listening Man" - it's a blast!

How do you make a 'hormone'?
Don't pay her!

The whole Bees' "Octopus" album is a beaut. That, and the Shins' "Wincing the Night Away" is the Flying Martinis' soundtrack of the summer.

    Live Earth made me spit.

    Yah,
I 'got' "Octopus" today. It's gooooood.

The Shins? Man, that's old news. I played the hell out of that. Still great though. Their first album is a topper too.

Live Earth? Spit? I wish I could have summoned the will to do so. Those bastids!
