Journey To The Centre Of My BALLS!
Tickets available NOW!

Sorry darling, Julian Bleach got the part...

++WARNING!++
This post has BRENDAN FRASER related content

I am, of course, referring to the new film JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH. But, wait at mo, it's in 3D! Huzzah! Those of you who have been reading this blog for some time will know my lurve for the format. It's just tit~tuttingly good. Real event stuff - a cinematic experience in the truest sense. I'll get to that later but first the film itself.

The Fall~en Guy

It's poor. Really poor. Even with the 3D some of it is hard to get through. Do I blame the aforementioned Mr Fraser? Kind of, but he didn't write the script and that's where the greatest crimes take place. Nah, that's not true. The biggest gaffs in JTTCOTE3D are Brendan and his arse~grabbingly dreadful performance. Anyway, if you go to see a film with this title you pretty much know what you're gonna get, and that's no bad thing.

KiKi becomes a bag lady, sad cow.

So what about the 3D? There are some brilliant moments in the flick notably the 'fish attack' scene (as people are now calling it) but the movie is full of effects which, certainly in the packed screening I attended, had people actually grabbing out in front of them. No, really. Add to that some gross~out moments (spitting, goo, etc...) and jump~out~of~yer~seat scares (not for me, sadly) and you've got yourself a neat experience.

Nobody told DeVito that the SONTARAN two~parter had finished filming...

For me, though, I was slightly disappointed. The effects aren't that great and the 3D is only utilsed fully at certain points and my brain did waft away from the narrative (such as it was) a number of times. Too many instances of 'emotion' in there. The ticket prices are inflated for these films and I'm not too sure this one is worth it but the kids in the theatre with me (not literally) were having a ball. Not for paying adults. And definitely avoid the non~3D version.

Miley doesn't realise that WASSSUP?!?!? is so '99

'Til the next time,
C.
